the octopus

For writing we have been learning how to write animal reports.

                                           

Octopus

Octopus are molluscs. There are 300 species.

Octopus have two eyes and eight arms called tentacles. The tentacles have suckers.

They lay up to 200,000 eggs under rocks.

They like to eat squids and crabs They glide on the seafloor and find food under the sand.

Octopus are found in shallow waters and make their homes in rocks and coral.

Octopus release a purple-black ink for defense.

Honey bees

For reading we have been reading about honey bees. I have created a google draw to show the dance of the honey bee.

My Writing goal

My writing goal is to:
* Put capital letters and full stops in the correct places
* Make sure my sentences make sense.

I am working at Level 2b.

Basic Facts goals

Here are my basic facts goals.

Maori Sea animals

We have been learning what the sea animals are called in Maori.

I have enjoyed doing the Maori words for them.

Maths

We have been working in small groups to learn how to solve multiplication and division problems.

Art Clay Pot

We made clay pots so we could drink water out of the cup if we were stuck in the wild. You can find clay at the edge of a river.

Handwriting

This is my term two handwriting sample. My next goal is to make my letters the same size.

I can type 10 words per minute.

Beyond a Village Narrative

We have been learning how to write narratives. Here is a narrative I have written.
Beyond a Village

Beyond a village was a forest that was hard to see because it was invisible. It was a spooky forest. And it was haunted too. 

In the forest there were dwarfs as big as me. As I walked through the forest I could see big black bats the size of my body flying around.  And I could hear fat hungry wolves howling, showing their sharp teeth ready to eat me. I was only a kid but I was so strong.

The wolf headed towards me I started defending him off but he ate me with his sharp teeth. I was trapped in his stomach.

Suddenly I remember that I had my pocket knife. I cut his stomach with the sharp silver blade and the wolf died. There was blood pouring everywhere and guts falling out from the cut that I made.

That evening I created a fire and cut the wolf into fat juicy steaks. I cooked them up and ate him for dinner.
